UCLA After School Program

The UCLA After-School Program mission is to assist young people with the transition from youth to adulthood by providing a variety of programs that encourage youth to move from secondary-education to post-secondary education and on to meaningful careers and productive adult lives.  The UCLA After-School Program operates in partnership with grants from Beyond the Bell of the Los Angeles Unified School  District as is free to all students.

DECEMBER PROGRAMS

HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE

Students can receive homework assistance in a variety of subject areas.

BLUE AND GOLD SCHOLARS

Blue and Gold Scholars are Sophomores, Juniors, and Senior student volunteers who will serve as junior staff, providing tutoring support to their peers. They will also attend work readiness and professional development workshops. Perks of joining include community service hours, stellar recommendation letters, and volunteer experience. Applications for school year 2020-21 coming soon.

COLLEGE CORNER

Come learn from our college advisors about college admissions requirements, SAT/ACT testing, personal statements, financial aid and scholarship opportunities. 

FOLKLORICO

This Mexican Folkloric dance group introduces students to the techniques and styling of traditional Mexican dance.  Students will learn, explore and appreciate the fundamentals of cultural dance and learn different regional dances of Mexico.

DRIVER'S EDUCATION

This is an interactive online course prepares students to take the DMV written permit exam.  This class meets for 6 week class and fulfills the 30 hour requirement mandated by the DMV for minors seeking a driver's license.  Students must be 15 and a half years or older to be enrolled in the class. Driver's Education is offered twice a year in the after school program. 

STUDENTS RUN LA

This seven month long program prepares students to run and complete the Los Angeles Marathon.  Students are required to attend weekly practices and participate in several races in preparation for the LA Marathon.

CYBER PATRIOTS

This is a national youth cyber educational program structured to excite, educate and motivate students to consider STEM academic disciplines and become the next generation of cyber defenders.  Students will learn how to protect computers from vulnerabilities, secure operating systems, networks and servers, and develop research skills.

ENGLISH LEARNERS SERVICES

After school tutoring, educational and enrichment activities aimed to support the needs of students who native language is other than English.  Services are provided to help students acclimate to the culture of high school.
